Weingut Brundlmayer owns some of
the most beautiful
vineyards in all of Austria.
In recognition of their
2019 vintage,
Brundlmayer has been awarded several
98-100 point reviews.
WHAT IS THE SECRET INGREDIENT
TO THEIR GLORIOUS WHITE WINES?
-LOCATION-
FIRST DETERMINING FACTOR-
SOIL
The vineyards that produce their
Kamptal Terrassen wines,
(two bottles shown below)
showcase 250 million-year-old
desert sandstone.
You can't duplicate that kind of soil or history!
These wines are fermented dry-
zero residual sugar, allowing the
Riesling & Gruner Veltliner varietals to shine.
The flavors are fully focused- wet stone and chalk,
with citrus and tropical fruits secondary.
SECOND IMPORTANT FACTOR-
CLIMATE
"In the Kamptal, the interplay of
soil and climate results in
particular finesse and complexity,"
says Willi Brundlmayer, owner of the family estate.
The dramatic daily shift from hot sunny days to cool breezy nights allow the grapes to reach maturity more slowly and with emphasis on
minerality and structure.
It is the natural collision of temperatures
and soil composition that makes their
particular location perfection.
This produces a purity of fruit-
citrus, lemon peel, green apple
and a generous display of the
schist, clay, and loam underneath.
Both the Riesling $32.99
and Gruner Veltliner $29.99
are available at SOMM WINES.
